Residency Theme: "The Wild, The Unwanted, The Unseen"

This is a working draft of the Goddard Graduate Institute Spring 2022 Residency schedule. Please do not regard anything listed as final until you have been advised to do so by the Program Lead. Zoom links will be the last things added. We recommend that you bookmark the SCHED link and refresh each time you check it, to make sure you capture any new updates.

NOTES ABOUT SCHED
SCHED allows attendees to view and interact with schedules on any device, including mobile, with the option for a traditional print-out schedule as well. To create your own custom schedule in the app or in Google Calendar, you will be prompted to create a brief profile with SCHED.

By clicking on the Schedule drop-down menu on the left, you may view the schedule in different ways. You may filter events by Type on the right-hand side as well. Also on the right, there is a mobile icon and printer icon for mobile and print views.

A full guide on how to use all of Sched’s features is available here: https://sched.com/support/section/guide-for-attendees/ If you continue to have questions about SCHED, you can contact academicservices@goddard.edu (weekdays) and helpdesk@goddard.edu.

Hmm, I live a rustic life, close to nature. Chop firewood daily in the winter. I'm a dedicated water lover who has bathed in many waters and also walked down many trails and paddled many rivers. I have tried to see as much of life and the natural world as I could so far--firsthand. I’m lucky enough to have had a long media career mostly behind the scenes in radio and television and film. I worked closely or knew many famous and infamous people, places and public “happenings” during my years of working for CBS News, PBS (Frontline), Warner Brothers, Skywalker Ranch, British Broadcasting Corporation and many more. As a Bohemian media guy, I won lots of awards: Cine Golden Eagle, Emmy, Aurora, Telly etc. Also, I've always been fascinated by almost any of the expressive arts. For a couple of years, I was a movie critic on Pacifica Radio. I originally worked in newsrooms, then as a cinematographer and later a videographer. I got interested in firefighting, and trained to do that; became SCBA certified and a fire service photographer. I spent around twenty years getting paid to promote the stories others paid me to tell. Eventually, as a full-time activist I have been amazed to learn that others find my own story interesting sometimes. Raised on a farm, lived in Africa for a while as a boy, later traveled the world as a stringer/journalist. I started a non-profit group to protect the river of my ancestors. Have since fought big and rich interests to help save the river and the communities around it. I eventually went to law school to up my game as an activist. Gave it a lawyerly "go" for a minute, clerking for folks who prosecuted murderers and worse. I decided working with and for communities interested me more than working for clients or “the system” -- and so I left law school pretty near the end. I have since taught law classes and workshops at several colleges and law schools, fought many front-line activist fights for the environment, lectured widely on environmental justice and the transformative power of connecting to nature. I still live on and manage the family farm my great-grandad founded in the 1920's and while I am terrible at growing things, I can repair almost anything on the place. My partner lives in rural North Carolina and she does work similar to mine on a river there. Actually we have an entirely separate life and set of friends in North Carolina--apart from our lives in Maryland. In both places, I have a Blacksmith shop. Something I fell in love with a while ago, I can talk about metallurgy nearly all day to anybody crazy enough to listen to me.
