This workshop explores the intersectionality between race, class, sense of place-- and how these factors are often overlooked in mostly white conservation movements struggling to weave environmental justice and diversity into their vision for a greener society and planet. The workshop will examine how Black, Indigenous, and people of color have difficulty self-actualizing within “Big Greens” and how changing the assumptions, vocabulary and worldview embedded within these cause movements can make them more effective, more equitable, and more accessible to a wider range of people and communities.
