https://goddard-edu.zoom.us/j/3697997659Humans in this unsettled and unsettling time are increasingly tuning in to the voices of nonhuman beings. Sometimes these beings make themselves felt inside us in ways we could never have imagined, breaching the borders we’ve always assumed were there, upending or dissolving the categories we used to make sense of ourselves and our human world. Often they come with profound, necessary teachings; always, they are received by way of the body. Some of the remarkable books that have recently documented these transmissions from the nonhuman realm are Alexis Pauline Gumbs’ Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals, Nastassja’s Martin’s In the Eye of the Wild, David Abram’s Becoming Animal and Andrea Mathieson’s The Book of Snake. I will be sharing excerpts from all these books. As well, our own Shante Sojourn Zenith, who has been receiving extraordinary teachings from a maitake mushroom, will be sharing some of them with us in this workshop. (
